The purpose of the Human Rights Walk-a-Thon 2009 is to forward the rights that were set forth and proclaimed in the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10th, 1948. Human Rights are the rights you have simply because you are human. Our goal is to help unite all people in human rights and to make these rights a reality. This year the Human Rights WALKATHON features four human rights groups partnering with us: The Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope, Community Tampa Bay and Youth for Human Rights of Tampa Bay. The event is co-sponsored by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida and was held at N. Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg.
